Comments on Bowls, Part III

Yesterday was a fantastic day.  For two reasons.

First, I went 5-1 in bowl picks, bringing my overall record to 11-8.  I am better than a coin toss (at least for now)!

Secondly, it was, in the words of ESPN analyst Kirk Hirbstreit, "the worst January bowl day in the history of the Big 10."  The Big 10 (Plus 1, Soon to Add Another) lost all five of their bowl games yesterday.  The only regret I have is picking Michigan to beat Mississippi State.  What was I thinking?  I was only off by 38 points (the Bulldogs won 52-14).

Of course, I was happy to see the Gators manage a win over Penn State to send Urban Meyer out on a positive note.  His impact on the Florida program, and college football in general, can not be overstated.

And you have to admire someone who is leaving the game to focus on his family and his health.  This is a man who has his priorities straight.  Even if it took him a year to be sure.

Seven games left in bowl season.  A chance for me to go 18-8!  Yeah, right.
